India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak has given a big hint that there could be major changes in the playing eleven for the do-or-die Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup 2026 against Zimbabwe at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on February 26.

Kotak shared that the Indian cricket team is seriously thinking about bringing Sanju Samson back into the team after the recent top-order failures in the tournament.
The defending champions are carefully reviewing their combinations as the openers failed in the last three matches, putting pressure on the middle order and spoiling the team’s rhythm.

“He (Samson) has been discussed, and we are thinking. We will see because we never decide the team early. But there will be thoughts,” Sitanshu Kotak said in the pre-match press conference.

Another concern is the presence of several left-handed players in the lineup. The rival teams have cleverly used off-spinners at the start of the innings to cause trouble in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. Well, Kotak said that they are ready to address the issue in Chennai.
However, the final decision will be taken on the match day. “There can be changes in the game. We are thinking about the top three left-handed batsmen and the off-spin bowling of the opposition. Now that we have lost openers early in 3 matches, we are talking about it,” he said.
