India became worse than Pakistan in ODI!

India have fallen to an all-time low in catches under Shubman Gill as they fell behind Pakistan after Prasidh Krishna dropped another catch during the final ODI on the Australia tour.

India have lost the first two ODIs against Australia as they failed to dominate the home team. A lot of allegations have been leveled against the Indian batsmen; However, the Indian fielders have also not been at their best.

Shubman Gill’s Team India has reached an all-time low with worst figures.

Since the 2023 Cricket World Cup, where India were the best fielding side with a catching efficiency of over 90%, they have now dropped to an all-time low of 69%. This is the lowest ever for India and came during the reigns of Gautam Gambhir and Shubman Gill.

Since the 2023 World Cup, Bangladesh has been the team with the worst catching efficiency at 77 per cent. They are followed by West Indies and Afghanistan with 76 percent and 74 percent respectively. Next come the Men in Blue with 69 percent.

In the ongoing match against India, while Kuldeep Yadav made his much-awaited comeback in the longer format of white-ball cricket, a poor effort from Prasidh Krishna denied him his first ODI wicket since the Champions Trophy.

Alex Carey missed his sweep shot, which went straight into the hands of a diving Krishna, but he failed to catch the dipping ball. This caused immense humiliation to India, an achievement for which Pakistanis are often trolled.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma join hands for an unwanted Indian record

Since 2019, the two most famous names in Indian cricket have been Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. He has not only been the most successful batsman but has also been the inspiration for the team on the field.

Kohli and Rohit together have dropped the most catches in Indian cricket since 2019. He may have played the most matches for the Men in Blue, but has lost too many to be considered.

While Kohli tops the list with 36 catches dropped across all formats, Rohit is second in the list with 33 catches dropped. However, both the giants took their chances this time in the ongoing match in Sydney. Kohli dismissed Matt Short while Rohit took a strong catch at the slip cordon, which led to the fall of Mitchell Owen.

Will India avoid a clean sweep, or will Australia thrash them 3-0?

India has already lost two consecutive matches and the series is out of their hands. Captain Shubman Gill has started his captaincy in the ODI team with a series defeat, unlike his record in Test cricket, where he had drawn the series with England.

However, despite losing the series, he as well as the Indian management would not want the series to end with a clean sweep. The Sydney ODI holds a lot of importance for India and they have given the Australians a tough time as their lower order has struggled against the Indian attack.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will also play their last match on Australian soil and hence they would also like to take something positive home from this series.
