Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly recently shared his views on India’s performance in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 after a 2–2 draw in England. The recently concluded five -match test series was a big moment for Shubman Gill.
He was leading the young Indian cricket team after Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin retired. While most of the batting lineup seems strong and inhabited, the Indian team is still struggling to find a reliable player for the important number 3 spot.
Karun Nair and Sai Sudarshan were dropped?
During the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, Karun Nair and Sai Sudarshan were given opportunities, but the two failed to impress the think tank in England. Since India is set to face the West Indies in the two -match Test series in October, it has been talked about remembering Shreyas Iyer at number 3.

However, former BCCI President Ganguly Iyer is against the idea of remembering the test line-up, as he feels another player who is worthy of getting his chance, as he has been waiting for a long time. Ganguly urged the team to give Abhimanyu Ishvaran a chance in the West Indies series.
Sourav Ganguly supported Abhimanyu Ishwar for India’s No. 3 after England Tour
Despite being called for a tour of tour against Bangladesh, Australia and England since 2022, Ishwaran has not yet tested. The former Indian captain suggested that Ijavaran number 3 slot could be an answer as it was the only weak place in India’s batting on England tour.
Sourav Ganguly was now quoted by time saying: “He is still on his age. I am still confident that he will get his chance. I think Yashasvi (Jaiswal), KL Rahul, (Shubman) Gill, (Rishabh) Pants, and (Ravindra) Jadeja have scored all runs.
Recently, Abhimanyu Ishwaran’s father revealed that Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir has assured Ishwaran that when he gets his opportunity, he will get a proper opportunity to prove himself.
