According to PTI, the India A team will tour New Zealand in August ahead of the senior team’s multi-format series later this year. The tour comprises three List A matches and two first-class matches, giving the players valuable experience in overseas conditions ahead of India’s crucial assignment at the end of the year.

The tour will give emerging talent and Test hopefuls valuable match practice in New Zealand conditions before the arrival of the senior team. Strong performances could help players push for selection as India are set to play T20Is, ODIs and a two-match Test series between October 22 and December 1.
Selectors monitor pace and spin options for future tours
India A’s tour of New Zealand will provide another opportunity for the selectors to assess the country’s fast bowling depth. Many players are expected to be included as India is building a bigger pool for overseas assignments.

Mayank Yadav is likely to get an extended run after returning to full fitness. Gurnoor Brar and Ashok Sharma are also expected to be kept under close watch as they look to strengthen their chances of earning a senior team call-up.
The selectors are also keeping an eye on India’s wrist-spin options ahead of a busy international schedule. Zeeshan Ansari has emerged as a player on their radar, and good performances in domestic cricket and the Duleep Trophy could improve his chances of higher honours.
India’s senior team will start Sri Lanka tour in August
The senior Indian team will begin its tour of Sri Lanka in August. The team is expected to leave on August 4 or 5 to begin preparations for the upcoming multi-format series.

The team management has planned to arrive early to help the players adjust to Sri Lankan conditions. The extra time will help the team acclimatise to the weather, pitches and match conditions before the start of competitive fixtures.
India will also play a three- or four-day practice match against Sri Lanka Board President’s XI from August 8. The practice matches will be the team’s final preparation before the opening Test, which is scheduled to begin on August 15.
Journalist shares key Team India selection updates
Press Trust of India (PTI) cricket correspondent Kushan Sarkar shares key updates on India’s selection plans for the upcoming tours. He explained the reason behind giving rest to senior players, the plan for the comeback of fast bowlers and India A’s tour of New Zealand.
He wrote:
“Sanju Samson would not have played in Zimbabwe. The decision-makers did not want a senior player to just go and be quiet. Others rested because the England ODI series ends on July 19. Mayank Yadav is fit for 20-over cricket. Like Gurnoor Brar in red ball and ODI, the panel thought this tour was the best opportunity to give Mayank and Ashok Sharma a full series.”
“The senior India team will leave for Sri Lanka on August 4 or 5. They will play practice matches (3 or 4 days) from August 8. India A is likely to go on a shadow tour of New Zealand. 2 ‘A’ Tests and 3 List A 50-over games before the main series. At the moment the pool of wrist spinners is almost empty. So Zeeshan Ansari played in India A for 6 years without any FC match. The selectors want to see him in Duleep too, if The CZ panel selects him.”
