India National Cricket Team star wicketkeeper-botter Rishabh Pant is ready to remember another competition due to injury problems after the disappearance of the ongoing Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates. After the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, India will host the West Indies and then travel to Australia.
They are set to play a two-match Test series against the West Indies starting on October 2 in Ahmedabad, and the national selectors are ready to name the 15-member squad for the home series on 24 September, which is two lower compared to the squad for New Zealand Test last year.
Rishabh Pant is unlikely for the West Indies Test series
Prior to the big announcement, the Indian Test team led by Shubman Gill suffered a major setback as Rishabh Pant would be against the two -match Test series against the hosts West Indies. Star wicketkeeper-better is yet to overcome foot injury.

In particular, Rishabh Pant fractured his left leg during the fourth test against England in Manchester earlier this year. Despite coming out of bravery to bat in the Manchester Test, Rishabh Pant could not continue and N. Jagadisin was converted into Oval for the fifth and final.
The selectors wait for the update from the BCCI Medical Team
Currently, Rishabh Pant is doing strength and conditioning at the BCCI’s Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. As reported by Espncricinfo, the medical team has not provided a clear time to the national selectors for the return of the pants, which means that India will have to move forward without it for now.
Pants, which was India’s vice-captain in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in England, is likely to return to action with Australia’s White-Ball Tour starting on October 19. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will also make their much awaited comeback on India’s upcoming tour of Australia.
Dhruv Juraral sets Rishabh Pants for West Indies Test to replace Pants
Meanwhile, In-Form wicketkeeper-botter Dhruv Jurlel is expected to replace pants in India’s Test squad for the upcoming home series against the West Indies.

Jurral impressed the tour of England in the absence of the pants, and is currently taking wickets for India in the second and final red ball match against Australia A in Lucknow. He broke a stunning centenary (140) and helped India attract the first red ball game against Australia A.
N Jagdisin, Devdutt Padikkal, and Nitish Kumar Reddy set for India
It is being said that N Jagadisin can be drafted as a backup wicketkeeper if Indian selectors go for another expert option. The selection committee is also monitoring fresh faces for batting order.
Devdutt Padikkal has forced his way to make his way into a selection conversation with a brilliant 150 against Australia A in Lucknow.
Apart from Devdutt Padikkal, Nitish Kumar Reddy is another name in the controversy. Reddy has already played seven Tests for India, but has been suffering from an all -rounder knee injury since the England tour.
Nitish Kumar Reddy missed the first red-ball game against Australia A, but he has been nominated in India AK playing XI in the second informal test in Lucknow.
In particular, the upcoming India-West Indies Test Series ICC World Test Championship (WTC) is part of the 2025-27 bicycle.
India currently seated third in the table of 2025-27 points after a draw 2–2 in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England.
On the other hand, the West Indies are struggling in the sixth after losing to the three of their three matches so far.
