second day of the second test between India And west indies A dramatic start was seen at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. young opener Yashasvi JaiswalWho had batted brilliantly on the first day, returned to the pavilion early on Saturday morning after a heart-breaking clash with the captain. Shubman Gill,
Yashasvi Jaiswal missed out on scoring a double century by being run out on 175 runs.
Jaiswal, who resumed on 173 overnight, looked set for a great double century – a feat that would have added another great milestone to his fast-growing career. However, trouble struck in the second over of the day. On the second ball of the 92nd over, bowled by Jayden Seales, Jaiswal turned the ball towards mid-off and called for a quick single. However, Gill showed no interest in taking the runs, leaving Jaiswal stranded on half the pitch. Tevin Imlach Collected the throw and blew the bails on time, ending Jaiswal’s innings at 175.
The young southpaw looked clearly distraught, his slow walk towards the pavilion reflecting his frustration. Before disappearing into the dressing room, he could be seen expressing his disappointment, reminding Gill that it was his call.

Moments after Jaiswal’s dismissal, fans took to social media to express their disappointment at Gill. Many blamed the Indian captain for the error and suggested that better communication between the two could have prevented the dismissal. Many fans tagged Gill and expressed their disappointment over the captain’s ‘reckless’ moment.
Some fans also argued that Gill’s hesitant running between the wickets has been a recurring problem, while others sympathized with Jaiswal, who missed a potential double century that seemed within reach.
Here’s how fans reacted:
My hatred towards Shubman Gill increased after this runout!

Shubman Gill, the insecure cheater and selfish captain. Yashasvi Jaiswal was run out by Gill, due to which he lost his double century. pic.twitter.com/VmFG6YkMEI

That was completely Shubman Gill’s fault. If he didn’t want the run, he could have given the signal immediately after Yashasvi Jaiswal ran in to take a quick single. But Gill waited until Jaiswal was halfway down the track.
This is horrible to watch☹️#INDvWI– Random (@Random144729) 11 October 2025

Such a selfish player can never become a leader.
Heartbreaking end to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s innings. He missed the double century only because of Shubman Gill.😭 pic.twitter.com/VFyf6ahReP

Don’t hate Captain Shubman Gill unnecessarily for this runout. Below is my assessment of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s run-out.
– I am watching now so I can tell you with 100% confidence that it was Yashasvi Jaiswal’s mistake. He has a bad habit of running away after attacking directly… pic.twitter.com/g5SYOCPBqf

Yashasvi Jaiswal 175 run out 💔
Shubman Gill’s insecurity reached such a level that he stole 200 runs from Yashasvi Jaiswal by running him out. pic.twitter.com/7xSkJU4eK1– Rohsh45 (@rohitfc58737) 11 October 2025

You can trust any enemy but as a batsman you can never trust Shubman Gill.
He is one of the most jealous people around.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was out because of Shubman Gill, first he called him and then said ‘no’. pic.twitter.com/mPX8iAajfv

Shubman Gill always comes as bad news for Jaiswal in some way or the other.
More eligible position in T20I.
Yashasvi is the better test player and untested Gill somehow becomes captain
And now this chance of a double century is lost.#indiavswi #shubhmangil #jaiswal #YashSweejayYaswal

Meet Shubman Gill,
Recently, after failing in the knockout and calling Gautam Gambhir ‘Yes Sir Yes Sir’, Rohit Sharma was made the ODI captain.
Today his insecurities reached such a level that he stole his deserved 200 runs by running out Yashasvi Jaiswal. pic.twitter.com/sU3dTZ3teX

The worst situation is when someone gets run out after scoring 175 runs in Test cricket.
The way he was playing he could have scored 300 even 400 runs had Shubman handled the situation better.
It is very sad for Yashasvi that he could not even score 200 runs.#IndvWi #IndvsWi

Despite heartbreak, Jaiswal’s name is full of records
Despite the unfortunate end to his innings, Jaiswal’s innings of 175 was a masterclass in flair and stroke play. His performance once again registered his name in the record books. Jaiswal left it behind, scoring his fifth score of 150 or more in Test cricket before the age of 23 Sachin TendulkarLong standing record of. only legendary Don BradmanWith eight such figures before 24, this rarity lists them above.
Additionally, Jaiswal’s century is his seventh as a Test opener. World Test Championship (WTC)put him in second place Rohit SharmaWho has eight. He even went ahead of Sri Lanka Dimuth Karunaratne and australia’s Usman KhawajaBoth have six WTC centuries to their name as opening batsmen.
