The five-match T20 series has already been decided IndiaThe spotlight has turned to an interesting individual battle ahead of the fifth and final game. new zealand fast bowler matt henry Has revealed his strategy to counter India’s explosive opener Abhishek SharmaJoe has been one of the most talked about performers of the series despite mixed scores.
Abhishek Sharma’s high risk, high reward performance
Abhishek’s journey in the ongoing series has been a classic example of modern T20 batting – feast or famine. In four matches so far, the left-hander has scored two ducks as well as two breathtaking half-centuries, underscoring both his destructive potential and the risks that come with his aggressive approach.
When Abhishek clicked, he completely took the game away from the opposition. His explosive 84 in the series opener laid the foundation for India’s dominant win, while his unbeaten 68 in the third T20I was even more remarkable. That innings included a half-century in 14 balls, the second fastest half-century by an Indian in T20 Internationals, and demonstrated his ability to dismantle a bowling attack in a matter of minutes. Both innings earned him the Player of the Match award and played a decisive role in giving India an unassailable lead in the series.
Matt Henry’s brilliant bowling in the series
On the other side of the competition, Henry has been a rare bright spot for New Zealand in what has otherwise been a challenging series. The right-arm fast bowler has consistently delivered initial strikes, putting India under pressure from the very first over.
On January 28, in the fourth T20 match, Henry dismissed Abhishek on the very first ball of the second innings. He was dismissed after another wicket fell on the very first ball in the third T20I, where he was sent back sanju samson. With those efforts, Henry became the first player in T20I history to take a wicket with the first ball of the innings in two consecutive matches.
His influence was most evident in New Zealand’s only win of the series. Henry finished with figures of 1/24 from three overs, and his early success against Abhishek laid the foundation for India’s 50-run defeat.

Henry reveals plan to stop Abhishek
Before the conclusion of the series, Henry accepted the challenge of bowling to a batsman like Abhishek, who has built a reputation for fearlessness not only in international cricket but also in the Indian Premier League. He stressed that it is important to maintain constant pressure rather than looking for magical deliveries.
“He has been playing brilliantly for the last two years and he has been attacking not only in international cricket but also in the IPL.” Henry said while speaking to the media on the eve of the fifth T20 match.
According to Henry, bowlers should be prepared for mixed overs against such aggressive batsmen and focus on responding strongly rather than getting distracted.
“It all depends on accuracy. You have to be precise in what you are doing and you are just trying to do your best,” He added.
