The Champions League T20 (CLT20), which took place a decade ago, is on a big and better return to track. According to the latest reports, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is involved in the discussions and is soon set to take important decisions about the revival of the tournament.
The Champions League T20 was launched in 2008, with the first edition in 2009. It was supported by BCCI, Cricket Australia and Cricket South Africa, inspired by the format of the UEFA Champions League of Football. However, the global tournament was discontinued in 2014 due to financial losses.

According to Cricbuzz, the International Cricket Council has decided to revive the Champions League T20. The decision was taken during the ICC annual conference in Singapore. The tournament will once again bring franchise teams together from T20 league in various countries.

There are plans for member boards to complete and finalize the structure and logistics of the competition. One of the main challenges will address the issue of cross-ownership, as many franchise owners have bets in teams in various countries.
To maintain operation and ensure fair governance, the ICC is expected to establish a governing council or a uniform regulatory body, as in the first version of the league.

One of the biggest obstacles in bringing the Champions League T20 back will find a suitable window in the already packed international calendar. The organizers will also need to find out how the teams of different leagues will be selected.
The BCCI and its major IPL are expected to play a central role in the revived tournament, as he did in the original version. In particular, the ECB, which did not participate in the earlier version, is now likely to come on the board with Cricket Australia.
