Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were last seen in action for India during the team’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Triumph in March earlier this year. During the IPL 2025, he has decided to move away from Test cricket before the tour of England, and Shubman Gill got the captaincy.

Kohli’s silence has raised the latest doubt about whether the batting giant is ready to continue in ODI cricket. In fact, the Indian cricket team management was eager to see both Rohit and Kohli in the upcoming 50 overs against Australia A.
He wanted to give veteran batsmen a little more important sports time than India’s jam-pack schedule, as he has not played any competitive cricket since IPL 2025, but only Rohit has only shown interest, while Kohli’s stand is uncertain.
