We have played a lot on that ground, and we have played a lot against India too – Tahlia McGrath
Speaking after the match against South Africa, Australia’s stand-in captain Tahlia McGrath said that they have played a lot against India in recent times, but anything can happen in a knockout match. He said:
(On facing India in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 semi-finals) Yes, absolutely. We have played a lot on that ground, and we have played a lot against India too – especially recently. But knockout games are important – anything can happen. Work completed, qualification achieved. The second thing, Knockout – we’re really excited about that.”
He heaped praise on leg spinner Alanna King for her incredible figures of 7-2-18-7 against South Africa and explained how he planned to utilize her. Tahlia McGrath said:
“(King) She was very good. No, it was brilliant. It felt like if the ball came into her hands and something was going to happen – and that was certainly the case today. She attacked the stumps constantly, and we felt as if every ball was going to be a wicket. Very happy for her. I heard she broke a lot of records – really special performances. Yes, we kept up with them.
“Changed our plans a bit – we knew we could have been a bit tighter, made some dot balls. We were getting the dots, but some boundaries were leaking. So we adjusted a bit, stayed nice and calm, and both of them pulled it back really well and took important wickets. (On bringing on King) Yeah, he’s an X-factor for us in this World Cup. As soon as the powerplay was completed, I had a quick chat with Aish. Did, and we both agreed to bring him. He took charge and did the rest.”
