Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi is set to face the wrath of the International Cricket Council (ICC), headed by former BCCI secretary Jay Shah, for running away with the Asia Cup trophy after the final on September 28.
The Indian cricket team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, finished the Asia Cup 2025 as an undefeated team, defeating Pakistan by five wickets in the final to win their ninth title. But he did not like India’s refusal to accept the trophy and winner’s medal from Mohsin Naqvi.
ICC is preparing to take action against Mohsin Naqvi over Asia Cup trophy controversy.
As a result, Naqvi, who is also the interior minister in Pakistan, took the trophy straight from the stadium to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) office in Dubai, and the Men in Blue did not get it despite the BCCI presenting several options to the PCB chairman to give the trophy to India.

The BCCI has expressed strong objection to Naqvi’s actions and is preparing to raise the issue in the ICC meeting to be held next month. It is being said that ICC can take serious action including removing Naqvi from the post of director or censuring him for violating the protocol.
“It remains to be seen what the long-term implications will be for the PCB or Naqvi as the BCCI is clear that he (Naqvi) has no right to hand over the trophy to the Indian team itself and refuse to send it to the BCCI, which was the official host of the event,” a source close to Vikas and Naqvi was quoted as saying by PTI.
Mohsin Naqvi keeps Asia Cup trophy under tight security at ACC headquarters
The Asia Cup trophy is kept under tight security at the ACC headquarters in Dubai, and strict instructions have been given that it cannot be moved or handed over without the approval of the President.
“As of today, the trophy is still at the ACC offices in Dubai and Naqvi has clear instructions that it should not be transferred or handed over to anyone without his approval and personal presence. Naqvi has given clear instructions that only he will personally (as the case may be) hand over the trophy to the Indian team or the BCCI,” the source said.

Mohsin Naqvi has further intensified the controversy by posting political posts against India.
The controversy surrounding Naqvi has intensified after he used social media to make political statements against India and raised serious questions over his impartiality as ACC president and ICC director. His actions have escalated tensions in an already heated situation between the two countries.
Reports from the ACC meeting after the tournament reveal that Naqvi had a heated exchange with senior BCCI officials including Rajeev Shukla and Ashish Shelar.
