The ICC has reportedly reprimanded Salman Ali Aga for disrespecting cricket equipment while walking out of the ropes following a disappointing dismissal at the non-striker’s end.
He has been reprimanded and issued one demerit point for misuse of equipment during the second ODI against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla International Stadium in Mirpur. Match referee Neyamur Rashid deemed it a Level 1 offense and a breach of Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.
He threw his gloves and his helmet on the ground after being controversially run out by his opposite number Mehdi Hasan Miraz. Then, on his way back to the pavilion, he picked up the device and threw it after the third umpire confirmed out.
“The specific incident involved misusing cricket equipment on the field while leaving the field. With regard to Salman Agha, he has no previous history of such behaviour. We have to maintain neutrality when we take decisions. As a result, we have issued a reprimand and one demerit point,” Neyamur explained. The Daily Star.
No action was taken on the altercation between Aga and Liton Das
Salman Ali Aga was booked for violation of an article that related to misuse of cricket equipment or fixtures and fittings during an international match.
However, the match referee, Neyamur, mentioned that he would not face any such disciplinary action for his heated altercation with Bangladesh wicketkeeper Liton Das, as he considered it to be merely a major misunderstanding.
Neyamur said, “We also considered the law, our training and the playing conditions. We discussed the matter with the ICC before taking the final decision. From the perspective of neutrality, we made the decision.”

The Bangladesh captain, who was responsible for the act, explained and reasoned it out in the post-match conference. He explained how his decision to oust Salman Ali Aga was a tactical decision made only to gain legal advantage in the game.
However, Aga claimed that if he had been in such a situation, he would have retained the ‘spirit’ of the game at that moment. The debate has been entirely around this major fiasco, with some taking Aga’s side, calling the Bangladesh captain ‘lousy’, while others have argued that he was within the rules.
Notably, Salman Ali Aga, who was attempting to pick up the ball, would have been out anyway if he had touched the ball as it would have been considered obstruction in the field.
