The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken another big step in its search to raise and empower women in cricket. At a watershed moment, the governing body of the game has taken a historic decision to appoint one of the women’s ICC panels of the match officials for this year’s Women’s World Cup.

This is the first time that all women match officials will work in the Women’s World Cup. ICC has been supporting the idea for some time. In recent times, the three major programs – the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the two most recent ICC Women’s T20 World Cup – were the official panels.

The top body of the game has named 14 umpires for the Women’s World Cup. Of the 14 officers, Claire Polosak’s trio, Jacquulin Williams, and Suu Redefaren will appear in their third Women’s World Cup, while Lauren Agenbag and Kim Cotton will be in their second World Cup. Turudy Anderson, Shandre Fritz, GS Laxmi, and Mitchell Perera are match referees.

“It marks a decisive moment in women’s cricket journey, one that we hope that all aspects of the game will pave the way for many more trailblazing stories. The inclusion of an all-wall panel of match officials is not only a major milestone, but also a powerful reflection of ICC’s unwanted commitment to advance the Equity of ICC.”
