ICC, Jay Shah loses to Mohsin Naqvi? There is a new twist in the India vs Pakistan dispute before the T20 World Cup.

India vs Pakistan is one of the key matches in any ICC event. A cloud of uncertainty still looms over the group stage matches of the 2026 T20 World Cup as Pakistan has decided not to play India at the R Premadasa International Stadium in Colombo on February 15. The Pakistan government on Sunday gave the green signal to include its national side in the upcoming major event.

The cricket world is in serious tension after the social media statement of the Pakistan government. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board has no official statement on the ongoing chaos, nor have they provided any update to the International Cricket Council (ICC). Under the ICC, no social media post is eligible for a formal notice not to feature a country.

ICC meeting going to be held in the next few hours?

There were reports on Monday that the apex cricket body is set to hold a meeting within the next 48 hours. According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, any discussion on sanctions or sanctions will take place at the ICC Board meeting, which will consist of representatives from the 12 Full Member Boards, three Associate Member representatives and the ICC President. However, no such emergency meeting has been held so far.

Rumors also suggested that the PCB would not give any formal notice to the global cricket body regarding the reason behind its boycott or supporting its government’s stance. As of now, the match is scheduled, and controversy surrounds Pakistan’s threat to skip high-profile games in the coming weeks. The apex body had already given a statement on the matter following the national government’s social media post.

No formal notice from PCB to ICC

The Pakistan government’s post on Twitter read, “The Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has approved the Pakistan cricket team to participate in the ICC World T20 2026; however, the team will not take the field in the match against India on 15 February 2026.”

In response, the apex body said that “selective participation” will not be allowed in keeping with the “fundamental underpinnings of global sporting event” and it hoped that the Pakistan Cricket Board would find a mutual solution that would protect the interests of all stakeholders. It added, “The ICC hopes that the PCB will consider the significant and long-term implications for cricket in its own country as it is likely to impact the global cricket ecosystem, of which it is a member and beneficiary.”

Will PCB and ICC come in the same line?

Despite rumors of an emergency meeting, according to recent reports from Cricbuzz, the global cricket board has 16 members, and, according to multiple directors who spoke to them, there is no such meeting scheduled at the moment. With only three days left for this important event to begin, the global body needs to take a decision quickly.

If Pakistan sticks to its plan of not playing against India, it could face sanctions and ban from playing in major tournaments. Their revenues may also be affected by the ICC, and big teams may not travel to Pakistan to play bilateral series along with docking points from the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
