The Pakistan Cricket Board has approached the ICC, demanding justice for its captain Salman Aga after he was removed from the ICC promotional poster for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026.
ICC T20 World Cup tickets have finally been released online for booking, as the World Cup is just two months away from now. BCCI from India and SLC from Sri Lanka will host the tournament and India will defend their title from 2024.
As all the teams are preparing for the T20 World Cup, ICC has released an official poster for the T20 World Cup, which features the five captains of the participating teams. It includes the captains of India, Australia, South Africa, England and Sri Lanka.
Pakistani captain removed from ICC T20 World Cup promotional poster
As soon as the promotional poster was released, like the Asia Cup, Pakistan team captain Salman Aga has once again not been shown in the poster and the PCB has expressed dissatisfaction over this.
However, the poster included the likes of Suryakumar Yadav from India, Aiden Markram from South Africa, Dasun Shanaka from Sri Lanka, Harry Brook from England and Mitchell Marsh from Australia.
PCB’s official update on raising this issue with ICC
One of the PCB sources informed us that they have raised the issue with the ICC and are hoping for a positive outcome.
“We faced similar issues when the Asia Cup was held a few months ago and at that time the broadcasters started the promotion campaign without including our captain,” the source was quoted as saying by PTI.
“We are facing a similar situation this time too as the ICC has not featured our captain on the promotional posters for ticket sales,” the source said.
The PCB believes that just as the Asia Cup situation was resolved after contacting the ACC, the issue here will also be resolved with a formal announcement to the ICC. He is optimistic about his inclusion in promotional material and subsequent campaigns.
Pakistan out of group stage of ICC T20 World Cup
When the Pakistan team participated in the last edition of the ICC T20 World Cup in the United States and the Caribbean, they did not have the best campaign. They lost against the United States and were eliminated from the group stage, failing to even advance to the Super-8 stage.
Despite such a poor performance and not even featuring in the top 5 rankings in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings, the PCB still considers its team as one of the top teams with a vast legacy of appearing in promotional videos. It remains one of the main attractions before the World Cup starts.
Future ICC promotional campaigns will be worth paying attention to, whether they include the Pakistan captain or continue without him.
