Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam violated the ICC Code of Conduct during the third and final ODI against Sri Lanka at the Rawalpindi Cricket Ground on Sunday, November 18. Babar has been fined 10 per cent of his match fee for hitting the ball on the stumps after his dismissal in the recently concluded series.

Pakistan, led by Shaheen Afridi, eliminated Sri Lanka in the final match after winning by six wickets. Chasing the target of 212 runs, Babar scored 34 runs including four fours in 52 balls. He finished as the leading run-scorer in the ODI series with 165 runs at an average of 82.50 and a strike rate of 74.32.

Babar Azam was fined 10 percent of his match fee after being found guilty of violating Article 2.2 during the third ODI against Sri Lanka. According to an official ICC statement, Babar was penalized for hitting the ball on the stumps in frustration after being dismissed.

“Pakistan’s legendary batsman Babar Azam has been fined 10 percent of his match fee for breaching the Level 1 ICC Code of Conduct,” the statement said.

“The 31-year-old player has been found guilty of breaching Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to ‘misuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an international match’.”
