Australia’s hard-hitting batter Tim David landed in hot water after showing disappointment in the umpire during the fifth and final T20I against West Indies at St. Kitts on 28 July. The International Cricket Council (ICC) slapped Tim David with a heavy punishment for abuse on the field.
The incident came to light in the fifth over of Australia’s innings when West Indies Pacer Alzari Joseph made a delivery under the leg side. It seemed wide to Tim David, but the umpire did not call it. And the Australian star could not hide his anger.

David got upset and took out his arms to signal Leslie Refer, the match officer, so that he was a wide. Not only this, he also went towards the umpire with his arms. The ICC found Tim’s behavior against the spirit of the game and accused it under Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct.

On Tuesday, August 4, the International Cricket Council confirmed that David was fined 10% of its match fee for violation of level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the fifth T20I against the West Indies. Along with the fine, the explosive batsman has also received a demerit point on his disciplinary record. However, this is his first crime in the last two years.

Meanwhile, Tim David accepted his mistake and the Emirates agreed to the punishment suggested by the match referee Renon King from the ICC panel, so there was no need for a formal hearing.
The allegation was leveled by the match officials-on-out umpires Zahid Basrath and Leslie Refer, third umpire Dietan Butler and fourth umpire Gregory Brathwaite.

Tim David sweeps Australia 5-0 with a record-breaking T20i century
In St. Kitts, in the fifth and final T20I, David scored 30 runs and played an important role in helping Australia win the match by three wickets. With this win, Australia completed a clean sweep 5–0 against the West Indies. He also made history by scoring the fastest T20i century by an Australian in the T20I series, reaching 100 runs in just 37 balls.
After a stunning IPL season, where he helped Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) win his first IPL title, David gave his form in the West Indies series. He was one of Australia’s most dangerous batsmen, scoring 132 runs in three innings. He broke 102* in the third T20i game. This was the first century of the Australian star in T20 International.
