A step has been taken with the aim of restoring the glory days of the Nizams of the cricket world. Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has officially appointed the former Indian international Ambati Rayudu like it’s new Director of Cricket Operations. The decision, approved by the HCA Apex Council, marks a significant shift towards athlete-centric governance in one of India’s most historic cricket hubs.
40-year-old Rayudu brings with him a wealth of experience while representing India 55 ODIs and six T20Is, with a historic career IPL with the giants Mumbai Indians And Chennai Super Kings. His appointment is seen as a strategic masterstroke to bridge the gap between administrative policy and on-field excellence.
Ambati Rayudu’s vision is to prioritize integrity and have a zero-tolerance approach towards corruption
The centerpiece of Rayudu’s vision for Hyderabad cricket is a complete systemic change. Speaking at a media conference with HCA President Amarnath And Secretary M. Jeevan ReddyRayudu was candid about the challenges ahead. His primary mandate? Complete eradication of corruption.
“My first priority is corruption-free cricket and zero tolerance towards it., Anyone found guilty, be it a player, parent, selector or umpire, will be reported to the ACSU and BCCI and immediately blacklisted.“Rayudu said.
This tough stance is aimed at eliminating the influence culture that has sometimes plagued the domestic circuit. By ensuring that the selection committee remains untouched by external pressures, Rayudu hopes to create a merit-based environment where talent from the districts and the city can flourish without any hindrance.
Rayudu announces his future plans for player contracts and development
Beyond ethics, Rayudu’s focus is on the professional welfare of the athletes. Taking inspiration from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), Rayudu announced plans to propose a formal player contract system. The move is designed to provide financial security to domestic cricketers, allowing them to focus solely on their craft rather than worrying about the volatility of match-fee-based earnings.
Key pillars of the new operational roadmap include:
- Administrative separation: Rayudu believes that cricketing decisions should be kept separate from political and administrative maneuvers.
- Infrastructure and Development: To oversee high-performance programs to ensure that Hyderabad consistently produces “India-ready” cricketers.
- Player Welfare: To implement a support system that reflects the professional standards of IPL franchises.
“I am here to serve the players, Hyderabad deserves to be the powerhouse of Indian domestic cricket. It’s my job to make sure we get back to that position and be the primary feeder for the national team” he concluded.
As HCA enters this transformational phase, the cricket community is watching with bated breath. If Rayudu can successfully implement his no-nonsense personality on the field into his new executive role, Hyderabad cricket’s revival could happen sooner than expected.
