India has faced many injury problems in the ongoing series in Australia. Shreyas Iyer has suffered a rib injury and his return date has not been announced yet; However, there is a big cloud of uncertainty looming over his return ahead of the upcoming series against South Africa.
Furthermore, while all the players who are not part of the T20 squad have returned, according to the report, Iyer has not yet received clearance to fly back to India, where he can begin his rehabilitation at the BCCI’s COE and begin the process as his injury is not a fracture.
Nitish Kumar Reddy returns for T20 against Australia
Indian all-rounder Nitish Reddy was another player in the Indian squad who faced a similar injury concern ahead of the T20I series. Unlike Iyer, Reddy is part of India’s main squad for 5 matches in the shortest format of the game.
Nitish Kumar Reddy, who had to be ruled out of the 3rd ODI due to a left quadriceps injury, was replaced by Kuldeep Yadav, but he is back and fit to play in the upcoming 5-match T20I series.
Although the BCCI update did not give any clear stance on Reddy’s availability ahead of the series, it has been learned via Cricbuzz that his injury is not serious enough to jeopardize his position in the upcoming T20 series. The first match is to be played in the capital Canberra on 29 October.

Rahul’s comeback may have got a boost when the BCCI included him in the India A squad for the second unofficial Test against South Africa A. This series will be played before the start of the main 2-match home Test series between India and South Africa on 14 November.
Rishabh Pant will be seen leading the Indian team in the unofficial Test and many big Indian names will be a part of the squad, especially for the second unofficial match.
Hardik Pandya to make international comeback before South Africa T20I
Following Hardik Pandya’s unavailability for the Australia tour, Nitish Kumar Reddy was selected in both formats of the game. The experienced Indian campaigner, who was part of India’s Champions Trophy and T20 World Cup-winning squad, was ruled out due to injury.
Pandya faced major trouble with his quadriceps as he was also ruled out of the Asia Cup final against Pakistan. India eventually won the Asia Cup, but Pandya returned to India to report to the BCCI CoE, where he is already in his rehabilitation phase under the BCCI monitoring.
