After a wait of 67 years, the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team finally reached the destination they had dreamed of for decades. Thanks to a group of exceptionally talented cricketers, Jammu and Kashmir lifted the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 title.

Paras Dogra said, “They have been excellent and it is not about 11, like 14, 15 guys, if you see, they have been tremendous. They are putting their hand up and they are performing really well. They are really keen to win the match and right from the beginning, they were 100% confident that we are going to win it.”
J&K defeats multiple-time Ranji Trophy winning team Karnataka
Eight-time Ranji Trophy winners Karnataka were not able to match Jammu and Kashmir, who were playing their first Ranji Trophy final, in any department of the match.
In the first innings of the match, North’s team scored a mammoth score of 584, and in the second innings, they stood at 342/4, while Karnataka fell far behind after scoring 293 runs in the first innings. As per tournament rules, with a first innings lead of 291 runs, J&K claimed the silverware.
The first innings was enough to propel Karnataka, which had stalwarts like KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Mayank Agarwal, Devdutt Padikkal and Prasidh Krishna. J&K’s score of 584 runs in the first innings was achieved with the help of Shubham Pundir’s innings of 121 and 5 fifty-plus runs. In the second innings, Qamran Iqbal remained unbeaten on 160 runs and Sahil Lottra played an unbeaten inning of 101 runs.
Auqib Nabi: Star rising from the valleys
The success story of Jammu and Kashmir cricket might have remained incomplete with fast bowler Auqib Nabi, who performed consistently well throughout the tournament and he is expected to become a new member of Team India in the future also.
Nabi’s figures of 5 wickets broke the backbone of Karnataka’s batting. During this, the fast bowler dismissed KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair, Smaran Ravichandran and Shikhar Shetty.
