Historical! Varun Chakraborty becomes the number 1 bowler because India dominates all ICC T20I rankings

The ICC rewarded Indian spinner Varun Chakravardhan for his continuous performance and ranked him as the No. 1 T20I bowler.

The bowlers are having a great outing in the ongoing edition of the Asia Cup 2025, as many players from India, Sri Lanka and other teams increase the ranking of ICC bowlers.

Varun Chakraborty ranked as the No20 Eye bowler by ICC

Indian bowler Varun Chakraborty has been crowned as not. 1 rank bowler by ICC, after repeated performances for India in the previous year. He is the third Indian bowler to be the number 1 ranked ICC in T20I after Jasprit Bumrah and Ravi Bishnoi.

Bishnoi has not been given any place in the Indian team for the Asia Cup; Varun Chakraborty, however, is quoted as one of the fixed players in XI. The 34 -year -old has been referred to as the best spinner for the last 12 months.

His strong performance in the recent two matches of the Asia Cup 2025 inspired him to overtake New Zealand’s Pacer Jacob Dafi in the T20I bowling rankings. Chakraborty not only chose for 5 against England, but also started a commanding for the year.

Asia Cup witness increases many bowlers in ICC rankings

On joining the Asia Cup, Varun Chakraborty chose 1/4 and 1/24 against the UAE and Pakistan cricket team. This proved to be enough for him to lift three places, Duffy, Akil Hosin and Adam Zampa left behind him.

In addition to these four, which are now on the top 4 list in the rankings of ICC bowlers, especially when the other three are currently not actively involved in a game. Sri Lankan Pesar Nuwan is thus moving to six places in sixth place, and Pakistani pair Sufiyan Mukim and Abrar Ahmed have also moved to the list at 11th and 16th.

Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav has exceptionally well performed in the Asia Cup, and he has moved up to 16th position in the ICC rankings.

No. 1-ranked T20i batsman Abhishek Sharma has gained the highest rating of his career after two dominating performance against the UAE and Pakistan team. On the other hand, England opener Phil Salt and his former captain Jose Butler are also surprisingly performing to retain their location.

South African batsman Developed Brevis has shifted two places to 11th position, while Aiden Markram has stepped up to 10 places to reach 30th in the ICC batting rankings. Shubman Gill has also moved to four places in 39th position.

Hardik Pandya dominates the ICC T20I rankings as the number 1-ranked all-rounder.
