India are world champions once again as they won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final. In the final, Jasprit Bumrah bowled a brilliant spell of 4/15, which remains the best bowling figures by a fast bowler in a T20 World Cup final. He won man of the match for his amazing spell.
Jasprit Bumrah finished the tournament as the joint-highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets, along with his teammate Varun Chakravarthy. However, due to his excellent economy, Bumrah remained above Varun. His economy in eight matches played for the team was 6.21. In the semi-final match against England, this fast bowler had bowled the match-winner.

In a match against England, where almost 500 runs were scored in both innings, Bumrah ended his spell at just 33/1 with an economy above 8. This revealed his talent. Even in the match that India lost against South Africa in the Super 8 stages, Jasprit Bumrah performed wonders with the ball as he took 3 for 15 in his four overs.
Many former cricketers and pundits have fallen short of words to praise Jasprit Bumrah’s extraordinary performances over the years. Bumrah was the player of the tournament in the 2024 T20 World Cup. India eyes 2027 ODI World Cup

However, there has been a change in captaincy in the ODI format and Rohit Sharma has been replaced by Shubman Gill.
