Rajasthan Royals (RR)’s thrilling six-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their previous IPL 2026 encounter in Guwahati was marred by an off-field brawl. Actually, Rajasthan Royals team manager Romi Bhinder’s moment inside the dugout has turned into a big controversy.
During Royals’ successful chase against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Guwahati, cameras caught Romi Bhinder using a mobile phone in the dugout. The clip quickly went viral and raised serious questions as phones are not allowed in the dugout area during matches.
BCCI’s ACSU has issued notice to Rajasthan Royals team manager over dugout dispute.
Following the online uproar, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to take action. Now BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) has asked Bhinder to clarify the situation within 48 hours.

The rules are very strict when it comes to communication during matches.
IPL Governing Council chairman Arun Dhumal confirmed to The New Indian Express: “We have asked the ACSU to investigate the incident and file a report.”
A new twist has been added to Romi Bhinder’s serious health history.
However, there is another side to this matter. It is being said that the Rajasthan Royals team manager is suffering from serious health problems. He went through a life-threatening condition where both his lungs collapsed and he was on a ventilator for almost a week.
After that, Bhinder was shifted to the ICU, where he spent about three weeks. Due to this chronic condition, he carries a phone with him at all times as a safety measure. A source close to the development, quoted by The New Indian Express, revealed: “Both his lungs were damaged, and that medical emergency meant he had to spend almost a month in a hospital in Nagpur.”
The drama requires medical attention as the RR manager is still recovering
However, for such situations, there are also rules that allow a team official to carry a phone for emergency reasons, but he can use it only inside the dressing room.
Meanwhile, Romi Bhinder is reportedly still recovering from her lung problem. Another source revealed that Romi has lost more than 10 kg due to medical problems, and also has asthma, which makes it difficult for him to move frequently between the dressing room and the dugout.
The source stressed that Bhinder has been with the RR team for a long time and has served the team in various roles, so he knows the rules and regulations, but “the phone was in his possession due to medical reasons.” He claimed that a team official can take one mobile phone and one laptop into the dugout as per protocol.

Didn’t call anyone: Romi Bhinder seeks relief on medical condition
The source said, “The only problem was usage, but again, he wasn’t making calls or receiving any of them. He was just scrolling through his phone. He has time on his hands and will try to make his point to ACSU officials.”
It is expected that Bhinder will share his side soon and the final decision will be taken after ACSU reviews everything. The source signed off by saying, “We hope that ACSU officials will take into account Romi’s medical conditions before reaching any conclusions.
The problem was that he had to walk at least 50 steps before climbing about 20 stairs to reach the dressing room and the same to return to the dugout. This may have forced him to check his phone in the dugout itself.
