During the third and final ODI of India vs Afghanistan at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, in the first innings, Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi scored his first ODI century in 14 years after making his debut in 2012. After his century, he also entered a unique list of batsmen to score the first 100 runs on most days on ODI debut. He made his debut in 2012, and after 14 years, i.e. 4644 days, he scored his century, joining hands with Sunil Gavaskar and Arjun Ranatunga, who had done so in 4858 and 4674 days respectively.

Before this match, Hashmatullah Shahidi’s highest score was 97 runs. However, soon after scoring his century, he was dismissed by Prasidh Krishna after scoring 102 runs off 131 balls, which included 13 fours and a six, who bowled brilliantly to score his maiden half-century in ODI cricket.
