A light-hearted moment involving India’s young fast bowler Harshit Rana, Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma has come into the limelight, giving fans a rare glimpse of the fun side of the dressing room. Harshit Rana is currently playing with Virat Kohli in the ODI series against New Zealand.
Harshit Rana’s funny first meeting with Anushka Sharma
Ahead of the three-match ODI series decider against New Zealand in Indore on January 18, Rana recalled his first meeting with Anushka Sharma and how it turned into an unexpectedly funny moment.
When he met Anushka for the first time, he was nervous and with respect the young fast bowler addressed her as “Ma’am”. This immediately caught Kohli’s attention, as Rana shared.
Well, the former Indian captain immediately stepped in to make the youngster feel comfortable and told her to call Anushka ‘sister-in-law’ and there is no need for such formality. Harshit, who is still unsure and is meeting the Bollywood actress for the first time, tries to explain himself.

Kohli turns an awkward moment into a laugh
Due to this Kohli turned that moment into a joke. Virat teased Anushka by saying that Harshit Rana was throwing champagne on her outside and was now addressing her as “ma’am”, which made everyone laugh. This moment became Harshit’s most memorable experience with this power couple.
MensXP quoted Virat Kohli as saying, “I was meeting Anushka for the first time. I called her ma’am. Virat told me not to call her like that and call her bhabhi. I said I was meeting her for the first time. So, he told her that I was outside throwing champagne on her and now he is calling you ma’am. He is very funny.”
Harshit Rana recalls Test debut emotionally
Meanwhile, Harshit also talked about how special it was to share the field with Kohli during his Test debut. He made his Test debut against Australia in Perth in November 2024, which later proved to be Kohli’s last Test series. The Delhi player admitted that debuting with one of the biggest names in world cricket made the moment very special.

Rana further said, “I wouldn’t say lucky, but it was a big thing, because it was his last Test tour. So, I got a chance to be there. He is such a big player and every kid starts cricket looking at him. And I made my debut with him. I even have a picture with him after my debut match. I will always remember that moment.”

The fast bowler also spoke about his perception about senior players like Kohli and Hardik Pandya and how it completely changed after joining the Indian cricket team. Earlier Rana believed that Kohli and Pandya were aggressive and intimidating all the time, but the reality was different.
“My perception about Virat and Hardik was that they would be aggressive because I had only seen them on TV. I thought they intimidated everyone. But when I met them in real life, they were very funny and completely different in real life,” Rana concluded.
