Harshit Rana out of IPL 2026? Shocking update on KKR fast bowler!

Team India will face America on February 7 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm Indian time. The co-hosts have faced injury problems before the start of the competition. Fast bowler Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup after suffering a knee injury during the practice match against South Africa.

Harshit Rana’s injury has come at the wrong time, allowing him to regain his form for the Men in Blue. Rana limped off the field during his practice match and it was believed that he was suffering from joint tenderness. The Indian fast bowler was the team’s third main pacer after Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh. Harshit Rana bowled only one over during the warm-up match.

Will Harshit Rana miss IPL?

Harshit Rana has been replaced by Mohammed Siraj, who was part of the Indian team in the previous edition of T20 World Cup 2024. Siraj will look for opportunities and play a few games in the competition if needed. Siraj will join the team ahead of the first game on Saturday and he may also take the field for India as Jasprit Bumrah has fever.

According to the report of RevSportz, Harshit is going to undergo surgery. If so, then he may be ruled out of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 and may not even play for Kolkata Knight Riders. This will be a huge blow for the franchise, as he was their best bowler in the previous edition of the league.

BCCI provides update on Harshit Rana

BCCI in its press release while updating on Harshit Rana’s injury and naming the replacement had said, “After consultation with a specialist and subsequent scans, the BCCI medical team deemed him unfit to participate in the tournament. The team management wishes him a speedy recovery. Mohammed Siraj will join the squad as Harshit’s replacement.”

Earlier, Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav was asked about Harshit Rana’s injury during the pre-match press conference, ahead of the news of his being ruled out and India announcing the replacement.

Surya said, “Harshit does not look good. We will know today. If Harshit is dropped, it will be a big blow. We will have to look at other combinations. But we have enough bench strength. We will see. There is no strict rule that he should be an all-rounder.”

India’s squad now has 13 fit members, with Washington Sundar also yet to recover from the rib injury he suffered during the India vs New Zealand ODI series and Bumrah suffering from fever. It is a big challenge for captain Suryakumar Yadav to choose his combination for the first game against USA.

India is struggling with injuries

Although India have not announced any replacement for Sundar and are still assessing his fitness, he was scheduled to bowl on February 4. However, the team management is adopting a cautious “wait and see” approach for the Tamil Nadu all-rounder. He is at the BCCI Center of Excellence to recover from his injury.

If Sundar is out, it will be a big blow for the team. However, he could be replaced by Ravi Bishnoi, who bowled brilliantly in the T20 series against the Kiwis since his return to the team, and Shreyas Iyer and Ryan Parag are also being considered.
