Harshit Rana has once again disappointed Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir as he failed to make any contribution with the bat in the ongoing first ODI between India and Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Sunday, October 19.
The Indian batsmen completely faltered and Harshit Rana was expected to make some contribution but the young bowler was out after scoring just 1 run in 2 balls before returning to the pavilion in the opening match of the ongoing three-match ODI series against Australia in Perth.
Gautam Gambhir’s trusted fast bowler Harshit Rana was out for 1 run in Perth.
Gautam Gambhir has always backed Rana citing his ability to contribute with the bat, and even during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, the Delhi player got his chance but time and again, he proved the Indian head coach wrong, as predicted by many former cricketers and fans.

In Perth, Mitchell Owen bowled a slow short ball outside off, prompting Rana to hit a big shot over point. However, the timing was completely wrong, as the ball hit the bat too high and went straight into the air.
Australian wicketkeeper Josh Phillip ran forward and completed an easy catch. In Perth, Rana returned to the pavilion after scoring just 1 run on 2 balls. Indian fans are making fun of Rana and Gambhir after getting out.
While many people trolled Gambhir by questioning Rana’s contribution with the bat, some felt that the bowler came from quota.
Here is how fans reacted to Harshit Rana’s failure:

1 run in 2 balls. and out. So much for the “Harshit Rana can bat” narrative.

It is still a mystery why Gambhir does not play Arshdeep more in Tests, T20Is and ODIs.
Imagine Ganbhir getting half the support he gave to fraudster Harshit Rana. https://t.co/t8LIKyhoBl

Arshdeep Singh did not play a single Test in England, the BCS management thought that the occasional 10 from Harshit Rana would be better than a proper left-arm bowler.

Meanwhile, India’s innings in the first ODI against Australia in Perth turned into a disappointing stop-start affair, with rain and early wickets letting them down.
