Harshit Rana disturbed Gautam Gambhir’s sleep, got injured before T20 World Cup 2026

As Team India is preparing itself for the upcoming T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to start from February 7. India, who are set to face the United States in their opening match before the upcoming major competition, are facing an injury scare to fast bowler Harshit Rana during the team’s warm-up match against South Africa at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday.

The Men in Blue are already battling injuries, with team all-rounder Washington Sundar already recovering from a rib fracture suffered during the India vs New Zealand ODI series. Now, Harshit Rana’s injury just before the team’s opening match will definitely cause some headaches for the management and head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Harshit Rana’s participation in the World Cup is doubtful

Harshit Rana caught his knee twice during the run-up to an over before being pulled off the field. When he came out of the field, he was seen holding his knee in distress and then he staggered away. The Delhi fast bowler bowled only one over and gave 16 runs. India hopes that the injury is not very serious.

An official statement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to come; Till then, no information has been given about the seriousness of the injury suffered by Harshit Rana during the warm-up game. India will be hoping to find a way to make it to the World Cup, which starts in a few days.

India is afraid of a big injury

In recent times, India have been battling a major injury crisis as Tilak Verma, who was out injured for the entire New Zealand T20 series, returned to the team and scored 45 runs and also bowled an over in the practice game. India will hope that he does not suffer any further injuries and continues to play the entire marquee tournament.

On the other hand, Sundar, who is in the 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup, has not fully recovered; He is undergoing testing at BCCI’s Center of Excellence. However, he has shown good progress in recovery by completing four batting sessions. His bowling session was scheduled for yesterday and further reports on his recovery are still awaited.

India’s dominance continues

Both the injured cricketers are still part of the team and it is expected that they will return in time. India will wait for the confirmation of the medical team before announcing their replacements for the major event in India and Sri Lanka. India once again demonstrated its explosive batting and scored 240 runs against the Proteas on Wednesday evening.

However, Harshit Rana will not start the game with the two specialist fast bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah in the team. Under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, India has won 32 out of 43 matches. Suryakumar Yadav’s team faces a big challenge to save the trophy as the current champion is a strong contender in the World Cup and can become the first team to win the T20 World Cup on home soil.
