In India’s previous white-ball series in Australia, Harshit Rana looked in great form with the ball, and he also made stellar contributions in the batting department.

On the strength of his heroics in Australia, he was included in the playing eleven for the ODI series against the Proteas. KL Rahul brought in Harshit Rana to bowl the second over of the second innings and he took two wickets in that over.

On the actual first ball of his first over, Rana bowled a sharp nipback to Ryan Rickelton, who defended on the wrong line and allowed the ball to clip past the inside edge and hit mid-stump.

After dismissing Rickelton for a golden duck, Rana clean bowled Quinton de Kock for 2 runs on the third ball of the over. He bowled a full ball outside the off-stump to De Kock, who proceeded to drive and only managed to edge the ball behind the stumps to KL Rahul.

Virat Kohli scored a brilliant century against South Africa

The great batsman of modern times, Virat Kohli looked in exceptional form in the first innings against the Proteas and played aggressive cricket.

Kohli showed his intentions from the very first ball and made it difficult for the South African bowlers by forming a brilliant partnership with the legendary Rohit Sharma.

Even after Rohit was out, Kohli did not stop and scored his 52nd century in ODI cricket. He played a sensational inning of 135 runs in 120 balls with the help of 11 fours and 7 sixes. India reached 349/8 thanks to a sensational century from Kohli and good efforts from other batsmen.

Former India batsman Mohammad Kaif was extremely impressed with Virat Kohli’s innings and said that the way he paced his innings was a lesson for the young batting talents of the country.

“Virat Kohli showed that old is still good. Blasting sixes to set the pace, keeping composure as wickets fell and showing aggression after reaching 100. A master class in pacing an ODI innings, a lesson for the youngsters who struggled till the end.”
