India captain Harmanpreet Kaur is on the verge of achieving a historic feat in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. Harmanpreet Kaur is all set to create history by becoming the first female or male cricketer to play 200 T20 International matches. Kaur made her T20I debut during the 2009 Women’s T20 World Cup in England. She has become one of the biggest names in women’s cricket and has played a vital role in India’s success across all formats.

No other cricketer has reached the mark of 200 matches in T20Is. New Zealand’s Suzie Bates is next on the list with 184 matches, while Ireland captain Paul Stirling has played 163 T20 matches.

India’s bowling coach Avishkar Salvi praised Harmanpreet Kaur ahead of the historic match. He described her as a top-class athlete and said that her consistency and professionalism have made her a role model for cricketers around the world.

“I think Harman is a top-class athlete. She is a role model for almost all cricketers globally. The way she has conducted herself over the years has been a role model. She has been a good performer in any format. She is playing her 200th T20, it is a big thing. And we are all excited to see her performance.”

Help boost the careers of many youth – Avishkar Salvi on Harmanpreet Kaur

Avishkar Salvi also praised Harmanpreet Kaur’s work ethic and her influence on the young players in the team. She said the Indian captain continues to focus on the basics and regularly shares her experience with the next generation of cricketers.

He added, “And working from a work ethic point of view, she keeps working on the basics. She shares a lot of experience with the youngsters. So that’s also a dimension where she comes in. At times, there is a lot of information available, but coming from someone who has performed so well at the highest level, those little things that she shares with the players, that really help boost the careers of many youngsters.”

South African all-rounder Chloe Tryon praised Harmanpreet Kaur ahead of her 200th T20 International appearance. Tryon said the Indian captain has inspired cricketers around the world.

“200 games is a lot. She makes it look easy. I’ve had the opportunity to play with her, watch her do her thing. It’s been remarkable to watch her journey, even when I was a little girl, just watching the big players.”

“She has been a role model for so many people around the world. It’s amazing to see her still playing cricket, and leading from the front, which is really good to see. Hopefully, she has another 200. I don’t know how many more she can take, but look, it’s great to see how the women’s game has evolved and how she has taken the game forward.”

Tryon and Harmanpreet were teammates at Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League. Harmanpreet’s long career and success at the highest level has helped grow the game and inspired players from different countries.
