India women’s national cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur created history on the first day of the one-off Test against England at the prestigious Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
The veteran batsman wrote another golden chapter in his remarkable international career as he achieved a record which no Indian cricketer from the men’s or women’s team had done before during the ongoing one-off Test against England Women at Lord’s.

Harmanpreet Kaur achieved special achievement at Lord’s
Harmanpreet Kaur once again proved why she is one of India’s greatest match-winners as she played a calm and responsible innings under pressure.
Her brilliant half-century not only helped India recover from the early collapse, but she also became the first Indian player to score a half-century in Test, ODI and T20I at Lord’s.
India women’s national cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur reached a special feat by scoring 58 runs during her team’s first innings against the England women’s national cricket team at Lord’s.

Harmanpreet Kaur has already scored more than fifty innings in both ODI and T20 matches at the Home of Cricket, and her latest innings has completed a unique record which no other Indian cricketer has ever achieved. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer’s sister alleged that he is playing with ’10 snakes’ in Team India.
Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues led India’s comeback
India, who came to bat first after winning the toss, did not get the start it wanted. After the cheap dismissals of Shafali Verma and Yastika Bhatia, the visitors were reduced to 37/2 within the first seven overs.
After this, Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues brought India back into the match by making an important partnership of 64 runs for the third wicket. Jemimah played an aggressive inning of 35 runs in just 38 balls before being dismissed by England fast bowler Issie Wong.
After Rodrigues was out, Harmanpreet joined Mandhana in the middle order and together they completely changed the game. The captain and vice-captain made a valuable partnership of 89 runs to put India in a strong position.
Harmanpreet looked confident throughout her innings, playing brilliant cover drives and cleverly rotating the strike to keep the scoreboard ticking. However, Harmanpreet’s brilliant innings also ended shortly before the tea break when England’s debutant spinner Mady Villiers bowled her out for 58. Mandhana was also out on 83 runs.
England made a late comeback despite Deepti Sharma’s fighting half-century
India were in a good position at 202/5 at tea, but England made a spectacular comeback in the final session. The hosts took the remaining wickets quickly, with India losing their last seven wickets in just 85 runs. But Deepti Sharma was successful in playing fighting innings in the lower order.
The senior all-rounder played a valuable 57-run knock – his fifth Test half-century – and stitched a useful 45-run partnership with Sneh Rana to help India reach a competitive total of 285 in the first innings.
However, England women also did not have a good start at Lord’s. Kranti Gaur gave great success to India by dismissing Tammy Beaumont for just two runs. At stumps on the first day, England’s score was 21/1, Maya Boucher was unbeaten on 17 and Heather Knight was at the crease.
The hosts still trail India by 264 runs, leaving the visitors in a strong position heading into the second day of the Test at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground. Both teams will be hoping to make a strong comeback after failing to lift the trophy in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
