The captain of the Indian women’s team, Harmanpreet Kaur, is ready to lead India in the upcoming ICC Women’s ODI World Cup. The tournament is expected to begin on 30 October against Sri Lanka in Guwahati.
“, This is incredible, because you know, when I started playing, I never thought that I would get an opportunity to lead my country, it was only in a dream,” Harmanpreet said in the Captain Press Meet organized by the ICC, as was quoted by PTI.
She admits that the return of the tournament in India for more than a decade made it even more memorable, as well as all the players in women’s game.
He said, “The ODI World Cup is happening after 12 years (at home), and I think it’s going to be very amazing for all of us. All this is about enjoying this moment and not taking too much pressure,” he said.
Harmanpreet’s clear strategy to avoid controversy in Pakistan’s struggle
The Women’s World Cup tournament will include much awaited conflict against Pakistan, which has been set on 5 October in Colombo. Citing the deal between the boards of India and Pakistan, Pakistan has been prescribed to play all its games on the earth.
However, in the Asia Cup 2025, amidst disputes between India and Pakistan, the women’s captain has also been asked about their stand for the upcoming ICC event. However, Kaur closed any such claim.
“We do not even discuss those things in the dressing room. We are only to play cricket and our focus is only on cricket,” he explained.
World Cup team captains issue key statements before ICC event
The Australian captain said, “I think India is going to be really difficult in his home position.”
New Zealand captain Sophie Divine said, “I think young players have definitely got confidence that they have self-confidence, and I think awareness can achieve it at this level.”
“I have learned to reduce different parts of the game. I think when you go there as a batsman, you are really trying to focus on the ball that is coming down,” Nut Scivor-Brant said between the leadership and batting responsibilities for England.
“They are very good players. I know they are playing at home, so we are going there as a little less underdog,” Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapathu said ahead of the initial match against India.
