Indian women’s team batsman Harleen Deol along with her World Cup-winning teammates met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and participated in a fun session. He described himself as the funniest character in the Indian dressing room and also questioned the PM on his skin care routine.
The Women in Blue have made India proud by winning the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 on home soil. The team led by Harmanpreet Kaur lifted the cup for the first time in the history of women’s cricket.
The BCCI as well as the ICC rewarded women cricketers with huge sums for winning the world title for the first time, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with the entire World Cup squad for India congratulated the team on an exciting season.

When the Indian women’s national team was called to the Prime Minister’s residence to celebrate the World Cup win, Honorable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi asked the cricketers an intriguing question.
She asked if there was someone who often lightens the mood of the Indian dressing room, and Jemimah Rodrigues pointed to Harleen Deol as such a character in the team. The cricketer also admitted that she keeps everyone around her happy.
Harleen Deol said, “Every team needs someone to lighten up the stressful moments, and whenever I am free and have nothing to do, I take it upon myself to reach out to everyone to keep the atmosphere cheerful. I like to keep people around me happy.”

Indian women’s team brought the World Cup home after 14 years of exile
The Indian women’s national team played its third final in the history of the Women’s World Cup in the longer format of white ball cricket. They had previously played the World Cup in 2005 and 2017 and were runners-up both times.
Playing on home soil, the Indians looked tireless with Smriti Mandhana, Pratika Rawal, Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur and Harleen Deol all making vital contributions to their victorious campaign.
Women cricketers ended the 14-year-old desire of Indian cricket fans to see their team win the World Cup. The men’s team won the World Cup in 2011 and finished runner-up in the 2023 domestic World Cup.
