“According to Section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honor Act, 1971, we must maintain the dignity of the national flag” lawyer Bidkar told ANI. He argued that the act of lying on the ground wrapped in the flag during a private moment of celebration is an insult to the national symbol. Although local authorities initially questioned the jurisdiction of the complaint because the incident took place in Ahmedabad, Bidkar said that because the flag represents the entire country, the complaint is valid in Bengaluru. The police have officially accepted the document and provided a copy to the petitioner.
