The former Indian fast bowler’s claim that his former Indian teammate has earned a huge amount from an advertisement hints at a controversial episode between them.
Although Harbhajan Singh has not taken anyone’s name in his latest Instagram post, it is the timing of the post that has forced cricket fans to connect with Sreesanth’s latest comments.

What was the slap gate incident?
The infamous ‘Slap Gate’ incident took place after an Indian Premier League (IPL) match in 2008 when Singh played for Mumbai Indians, and Sreesanth was with Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). The controversial episode was staged after the match, when cameras captured the seamer crying on the field.
The spinner was accused of slapping S Sreesanth, for which he was suspended for the rest of the season. Later he apologized for the action taken against the bowler of the opposing team.
It has been almost 18 years since this incident happened. As the saying goes, time heals pain; It seems that both the cricketers have left the controversial chapter behind them long ago. On several occasions, Harbhajan Singh expressed regret over the incident, while S Sreesanth also kept his cool over the years.
Sreesanth’s open challenge to Harbhajan for boxing match
But recent comments suggest that Sreesanth is still not able to get over the incident. Referring to an old promotional image of the pair wearing boxing gloves, Sreesanth gave an open challenge to Harbhajan for an actual in-ring boxing match wearing the gloves. The former fast bowler also mentioned that he was serious about the open challenge.
“This is the same scene, do you have the guts? Do you have the guts to come into the ring with me? Can you come after signing? Wearing these same gloves? This is not acting. I am smiling. You are not even smiling. I don’t know what you are doing. Let’s see. This is an open challenge,” S Sreesanth said during his latest appearance on Lallantop.
Sreesanth further told in the discussion that he remained silent on the Slap Gate scandal for years, but his former teammate’s advertisement rekindled the fire in him. According to him, Harbhajan earned around Rs 80 lakh to Rs 1 crore from that advertisement.
The former fast bowler also revealed that ever since he saw the ad, he broke all ties with Harbhajan, lost all respect for him and even blocked him on Instagram.
