Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was once again targeted by fans on social media during the IPL 2026 opener between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, March 28.
Last year too, Harbhajan, his fellow commentators Virender Sehwag, Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina were criticized for the quality of Hindi commentary. At the time, the former World Cup winner promised to consider the feedback and take it positively.

In fact, as soon as IPL 2026 began in Bengaluru on Saturday, social media was filled with lewd and abusive comments for Harbhajan Singh, Sehwag and Aakash Chopra.
An X user named Homi shared the picture of Ian Bishop, Harbhajan, Navjot Singh Sidhu and Sehwag on social media.
“Ian Bishop is more Indian than these cheesy Hindi commentators ,” the user captioned the boundary crossing and meme poster against Harbhajan Singh, Sehwag and Sidhu.
Earlier, the Indian star got angry and decided to respond in typical Indian style by calling the user a dog.
Harbhajan hit back at the user and said, “Haathi chale bazaar. Dog barke hazaar. Chal nikal yahan se Tommy. Homi nahi (When an elephant passes through the market, thousands of dogs bark.) So get out of here, Tommy- no homi.”

This led to a war of words between the two. Following the former spinner’s sharp reaction, the ex-user dragged Ravichandran Ashwin into his midst and also called his commentary “terror”.
He said that Harbhajan was jealous of Ashwin’s career and suggested him to focus on his commentary, otherwise the new commentator would lose this job too.

He replied to Harbhajan, “Jealousy of Ashwin has ruined your career. Now focus on commentary otherwise you will have to retire from here too. You are not a “Turbanator” but a “T*rr” for commentary”
To which Harbhajan said: “Dogs can’t digest ghee, and a loser like you can’t digest the answer. Get lost, Tommy)”
Many trolls on social media have often alleged a rift between Harbhajan and Ashwin, who made his commentary debut during the RCB vs SRH clash on March 28, but they have always shown respect towards each other and have cleared the noise on the matter.
After being called a joker, Harbhajan Singh gave a brutal reply
Another called him, along with Sehwag and Chopra, a joker, and the former spinner mocked him by asking him to choose one of them as his father. He replied to her: “Ek mein ko papa chhun le. (Choose one of them as father).”
Now, the former Indian star’s derogatory reactions have gone viral on social media, with some fans calling him out for using such language despite being a respected figure in the country.
