Emerging fast bowler Gurnoor Brar has arguably the worst record for the India national cricket team in the One Day International format. Tonight, against England, the fast bowler conceded 97 runs in 10 overs. Shubman Gill, captain of India’s ODI and Test teams, allowed Gurnoor Brar to utilize his full bowling quota, relying on his wicket-taking ability. The output was completely different, one which the bowler himself would like to forget as soon as possible.
According to all-time statistics, the most expensive spell for India in this format belongs to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who gave away 106 runs against South Africa in Mumbai in 2015, and took only one wicket.
An unwanted record was registered for India in ODI in the name of Gurnoor Brar.
Another fast bowler Vinay Kumar, who played an innings of 102 runs against Australia in Bengaluru in 2013 and took only one wicket. And Gurnoor Brar gave away 97 runs without taking a single wicket in the match played at Lord’s tonight. Since he was unable to take any wickets, unlike Bhuvneshwar and Vinay, who took at least one wicket on each of their bad days, this became the worst bowling figures by an Indian bowler in the 50-over format.
