And this is the first time in Indian cricket history that six players from the same IPL franchise have been named in the Test playing XI. This is a rare feat, as never before has an IPL franchise had six players represent India in a Test match together.

Before the ongoing India vs Afghanistan one-off Test, there had been 42 occasions when five players from the same IPL team were included in India’s playing XI. Chennai Super Kings dominated that list with 34 such instances. Delhi Capitals achieved it five times, while Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans achieved it once each.
This is the first time that the Indian national team has 6 players from the same IPL team – Sudarshan, Gill, Washington, Suthar, Siraj, Prasidh.

Manav Suthar’s debut adds another IPL success story
Now, Gujarat Titans have become the first IPL franchise to have six players in India’s Test team at the same time. This achievement also shows that many Gujarat Titans players have become key members of the Indian cricket team.
This historic match started on June 6 at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. This is the one-off Test between India and Afghanistan and has attracted a lot of attention from cricket fans of both the countries.
However, this Test match is not part of the current ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, as Afghanistan is not involved in the current WTC competition.

KL Rahul and Sai Sudarshan scored half-centuries against Afghanistan
Meanwhile, KL Rahul and SAI Sudarshan took charge of the innings against Afghanistan after the lunch break on the first day. Both of them played fast innings after the first session. In the post-lunch session, both the batsmen completed their half-centuries and kept the scoreboard moving with positive stroke play.
Earlier in the day, India got off to a solid start after winning the toss and electing to bat first. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul looked comfortable from the beginning and showed good intentions. He respected good balls but missed no opportunity to punish loose balls.
However, Jaiswal was out after scoring 24 runs in 32 balls. The left-handed batsman tried to deal with a short-of-length delivery from Mohammad Salim Safi, but found the inside edge and the wicketkeeper completed a simple catch. Jaiswal looked disappointed while returning to the pavilion after getting a good start.
