Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) head coach Andy Flower has shared his views on Virat Kohli’s retirement from Test cricket before the five -match series in England. Flower said that India would remember Kohli’s energy, positivity and aggression on the field, calling it an important moment for Indian cricket.
Virat Kohli retired from Test cricket on May 12, ending his 14 -year career. Kohli overtook a permanent heritage as both a batsman and leader. India is currently in England for the test series, which began in Leeds on 20 June. The blue men still have senior players like Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja.

Talking to Annie, Andy Flower said that any team would remember a player like Virat Kohli, not only for his batting skills, but also for his intensity, energy and positive aggression. Flower said that the transition is a natural part of the game, saying that there are many young talents in India.

“He has been a great player in any format of the game he has played. Any team will miss him, not only his batting but for his energy, his positivity and his aggression,” The flower said.
“It is always good to fulfill the effects in teams where you have some individuals such as they [Virat Kohli] Is a good way. Therefore, I think they can miss it. ,
He said, “This is the reality of these situations when great players move forward, it is that time progresses and teams move forward and India are lucky that they have a lot of young talents,” he said.

We will still see Virat Kohli in IPL and OD cricket – Andy Flower
Andy Flower called it a joy to play Virat Kohli and even see the train. While Kohli has stepped away from Test cricket, Phool reminded the fans that they would still get to see him in action in IPL and Odis. He said that Kohli still has passion and ability to score runs.
“This is beautiful to see Virat playing. We will still see him in IPL and OD cricket. I like to see him in training, let’s come alone in matches,” Flower said.
“So, I think this is a common infection of life. I wish him all the best because he enters this next stage of his career. He still has a lot of energy and has a lot of runs left, so we will continue to enjoy his game for a few more years.”
Andy Flower directed RCB for IPL title for the first time after waiting for 18 years.
Royal Challengers Bangalore won their first IPL title in 2025 after defeating Punjab Kings (PBK) in a thrilling final in Ahmedabad on 3 June. RCB drought an 18 -year title for the prestigious trophy.
Andy Flower, who took over as head coach before the 2024 season, directed the team in the playoffs in their debut year. RCB continued speed in 2025, scored second on points table with nine wins and 19 out of 14 games.
The team led by Rajat Patidar defeated Punjab Kings with an eight -wicket win in the first qualifier. He grabbed his nerve to seal the six -run win in the final and lift the trophy. Patidar made history by becoming the first RCB captain to lead the side for the IPL title.
