New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Philips has been excluded from the T20I TRAI-series, incorporating Zimbabwe and South Africa after maintaining a correct gaiety. Tim Robinson, who joins the squad as a temporary cover for players participating in the MLC final, will remain with the team for the rest of the series.
Philips faced a right waist injury during the Major League cricket final between MI New York and Washington Freedom. The medical staff evaluated his position after coming to Zimbabwe for the T20I TRAI-series. It turns out that he would need several weeks of recovery, he would be excluded from the tour.

New Zealand Cricket on Friday confirmed that Glenn Philips was withdrawn from a visit to Zimbabwe. The official statement revealed that Tim Robinson would be with the squad for the remaining of the T20-series.

New Zealand cricket said in a statement released on Friday, “Blackcaps withdrew all -rounder Glenn Philips from a tour of Zimbabwe after batting.”
“Wellington Firebirds batsman Tim Robinson, who joined the squad as a cover for players involved in the MLC final, will be with the squad for the remaining T20 TRAI-series.”
Disappointed to lose any of Glenn Philips Calibs – New Zealand head coach
New Zealand head coach Rob Walter said Glenn Philips’ injury is a significant disadvantage for the team. Walter said that Philips will work hard on his recovery and soon he is eager to see him back in action.
“This is clearly disappointing to lose any of the caliber of Glenn. Like Fin, we really feel for Glenn and he remembers the series,” Walter said.
“We know that he was eager to get out on the field for blackcap and unfortunately, he will not be able to do so for this series. We know that he will work hard to bring himself back to the park, and I look forward when this happens.”
Finn Alan dropped from Zimbabwe tour after a toe in MLC
New Zealand is also without Finn Alan, who was initially nominated in the team, but later left for San Francisco Unicorn at MLC after injuring his leg.
Glenn Philips, who was part of the New Zealand Test team for the upcoming series against Zimbabwe, would return home after going out due to a waist injury. A replacement for them in the test squad will be announced later.
Philips will be included in the flight by Michelle Hey and James Neesham, who were also traveling for the tour.
The all -rounder recently played 10 matches for Washington Freedom in Major League cricket, scored 186 runs at 62 and a strike rate of 139.84.
Earlier this year, Philips replaced most of the IPL season due to a similar waist injury, replacing for the Titans of Gujarat.
