Australian veteran T20I all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been ruled out of the first two T20Is against India due to a wrist fracture; However, the star cricketer has started to bounce back optimistically for the final part of the upcoming T20I series between India and Australia.
Australia announced its squad for the upcoming T20 series against India on October 29 and 31, in which Glenn Maxwell was not named. The matches are to be played in Canberra and Melbourne. Next three matches will be played The matches will be played in Hobart on 2 November, Gold Coast on 6 November and the final match in Brisbane on 8 November.

The veteran Australian all-rounder is optimistic that he can still be a part of Australia’s upcoming T20I series against India following surgery on his broken right wrist. He suffered this injury when he was hit on his wrist by a strong shot from Mitchell Owen.
The injury occurred at the nets ahead of the T20 series against neighboring rivals New Zealand in Mount Maunganui. He was immediately sent home to see a specialist and opted to have surgery to try to reduce the recovery time to four weeks.
Glenn Maxwell said, “I think having the surgery last week gives me a little bit more hope of playing some role in that India series, if I can get myself sorted.”
He said, “The only reason I had surgery was because the options they gave me were to miss that series altogether and not have any surgery, or to have surgery and have less hope of me playing a role. And if not, I’ll be ready for the BBL earlier, and I think that’s in good shape for the rest of my body to heal.”
“I just met with a hand therapist yesterday,” Maxwell said. “They just gave me some basic movements, things that sound really boring, but I think they’re wrist strengthening.”

Maxwell hopes to play part of the India series out of frustration at missing the T20 series against New Zealand despite being in great form.
“I was probably a bit unlucky with my position and the ball hit my arm,” he said. Glenn Maxwell continued, “When it hit me, I thought I was lucky it just hit the bone and not a lot of meat, and it was going to be perfect.
In his last T20 innings against South Africa in August, he scored a remarkable 62* off just 36 balls to lead Australia to a series win. Despite announcing his retirement from One Day Internationals, he played two domestic one-day matches for Victoria and scored 107 runs from just 82 balls against Queensland.

Asked what is the deadline to end his T20I career and whether the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles is on his mind, he said he has not thought about December 2025 yet.
“I’m really thinking about the first round of the BBL at the moment,” Maxwell said. “Let’s get there first. If I’m enjoying my cricket till then… I’m not fixing dates or anything.”
Maxwell is excited about the upcoming BBL season and hopes to lead the Melbourne Stars to an elusive BBL title, as he played in the BBL final last season, with Glenn Maxwell being the player of the tournament.
