Gautam Gambhir facing heavy criticism
Head coach Gautam Gambhir has received large scale backlash for the poor performance of India National Cricket Team in Test cricket.
Under his guidance, The Men in Blue has performed brilliantly in T20 and ODI cricket, even raised the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in UAE.
However, India’s testing team has seen a major collapse as Gautam Gambhir came on the hull. Gambhir’s testing tenure began on a major note as India crushed Bangladesh 2–0 in a domestic series.
But since then, things have not happened in India’s favor. He faced a historic 0-3 whitewash at the hands of New Zealand at home. It was a loss of the first test chain on the soil of the house after 12 years for India and the first time in the history of Test cricket at home was 0-3 whitewash.
Then, India traveled to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and despite starting a series with a win, he faced a 1-3 defeat. Currently, India is involved in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in England and lags behind 1-2.
BCCI England Test series will not dismiss India’s head coach even after disaster
Gautam Gambhir has taken some shocking team selection decisions in Test cricket and has tried to implement the white-ball cricket strategy in the red-ball format.
He has trusted all -rounders a lot instead of experts and has focused on the depth of batting instead of getting 20 wickets in the match.
All these poor decisions have not fitted Gautam Gambhir, who have done many beliefs, for the job of head coach in Test cricket. However, the Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) otherwise thinks.
According to Abhishek Tripathi of Dainik Jagran, BCCI is not in any mood, whenever India loses the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 in a derogatory manner, Gambhir is still not in a mood to dismiss. The governing body will evaluate its performance in the long run, and he will also continue in the role in the next red-ball series.
There is no threat to the Test coaching role of Gautam Gambhir after this series.

I wonder that there is not a middle-order batsman in this 18-member squad-Akash Chopra
In a video shared on his official YouTube channel after the end of the first day’s game at Old Trafford, Manchester, former India opener Akash Chopra questioned the selection of India’s squad.
Chopra said that the Test Squad in India is not a middle-order batsman and is forced to play all-rounders. He said:
“Sharadul Thakur, Washington Sundar, and Ravindra Jadeja scored a few runs. However, if three all-rounders play from number 6 to number 8, you expect a lot of runs with the bat, but you do not have this assurance. I am surprised that it has been added to the 18-MM Squad, and Ansul Kamboj, not a medium-wide.
“You have not raised anyone. You have chosen all the top-order batsmen. When Karun Nair was played at number 6, we said that we had removed him from the situation, or he is also the number 3 batsman. If everyone plays at number 3, who will play the order?
“Suddenly, Nitish Kumar Reddy was injured, and you did not have a batsman left. You said that you would play Shardul in his place and bat at number 6 in 6 because he was batting well, but Jaddu was expected to fail on some stage.”
