After the defeat against South Africa, the India national cricket team led by head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav need to go back to the blackboard to formulate solutions so that they can avoid the same mistakes during their next Super 8 match, which will be against Zimbabwe.
Many things are being said after India’s defeat by South Africa by 76 runs. Experts are raising questions on the management strategy. Some experts are of the opinion that the demand to drop Akshar Patel from the team has harmed the team’s performance.
Ravichandran Ashwin believes players are capable of finding solutions themselves
Whatever problems there are, they should be rectified with immediate effect. Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin said that if there is stability within the camp then the players are capable of finding solutions on their own.
Ashwin said on his YouTube channel ‘Ash Ki Baat’, “This is the time to find solutions. We think that making changes creates solutions. No. If there is stability in the team, the players themselves will find solutions. We have to create such an environment that the players feel stable and think for themselves and bring solutions. We cannot always think of making changes. Otherwise they will go into insecurity.”
Ravichandran Ashwin is against too many changes in the team
Ashwin is against making too many cuts and changes in the name of finding solutions. The former cricketer mostly focused on the atmosphere of the team through his statement. He believes that if the team is in stable form then solutions will emerge easily.
Questions were raised on Washington Sundar and Tilak Verma. A section of cricket fans and experts suggested the management to include Axar Patel in place of Washington Sundar and Tilak Verma to make room for Sanju Samson in the playing combination. Ravichandran Ashwin is not thinking that way, because too much shuffling or experimentation can also harm the components of the team in the long run.
Stability will not allow these ideas to come: Ravichandran Ashwin
“At the end of this defeat, I can’t think what they will do. They can think of many things. You have to bring Axar back. Playing in Chennai, they can think of another spinner and Kuldeep. They can think of Sanju Samson, because there are discussions about Tilak and Abhishek”, Ashwin said.
“But if we can keep things stable, these thoughts will not come. In such a campaign, I am not saying not to make changes for those who are not in form, but if you keep making changes, there will be doubts within the dressing room,” Ravichandran Ashwin concluded.
India will take on Zimbabwe in their next Super 8 match on February 26 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Chennai venue is famous for its spin-friendly nature. Would the Indian team management prefer to go with an extra spinner? This will be exciting to see.
