Manoj Tiwari Slam Gautam Gambhir:

Handshek Ro has created a lot of stir in the cricketing fraternity. Manoj Tiwari has also shared his views on the same. Former cricketer, whose bitter relationship with Gautam Gambhir is well known, has once again called his former India and IPL team partner. The former Bengal cricketer has said that there was no right task to avoid handshake with Pakistani players.

“He (serious) was saying that we should not play against Pakistan at any point, until the issues are resolved … I think it was not right to do (not shaking hands). When you have decided to play the game against Pakistan … and there (during the press conference), when you already show your hands, you are doubtful.

I felt that the head coach would have felt pressure – Gautam Gambhir

Speaking further, Manoj Tiwari said that a decision can be taken to avoid social media backlash. There were widespread calls to escape the match against Pakistan due to Pahalgam terrorist attack and later military conflict with Pakistan.

“I thought … as well as a trending hashtag – ‘boycott Asia Cup’ … I felt that the head coach would have felt pressure about him being a bit hypocritical that when he was not in charge of being a head coach, he made a lot of statements that he could not defend … It could trigger to show some support.

Meanwhile, India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets to book their place in Super 4S. They will face Oman in their previous group games.
