Ganguly’s sudden interest comes at a time when everyone was eyeing Gautam Gambhir as he was struggling to repeat the success of his white ball in Test cricket as an Indian head coach.
Sourav Ganguly was told by PTI, “I really never thought about it (coaching of the Indian team) because I came into different roles. I ended in 2013 and then became the president of the cab (BCCI) and then became the president of the board (BCCI). We will see what the future is. I am just 50, so let’s see what I happens.

Red balls placed Gautam Gambhir under scanner
There are already reports that the BCCI is supporting Gambhir for now, as red-ball failures have put their position under the radar. Under Gambhir’s guidance, men in Blue achieved significant success in white-ball cricket, but they have yet to prove their leadership in Test cricket.
