India national cricket team left-hander Arshdeep Singh did something really strange during the second T20I of the five-match series against the South Africa national cricket team.
Arshdeep Singh bowled seven wides in an over against the Proteas at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh and this made head coach Gautam Gambhir very angry.
Arshdeep Singh bowls 7 wides, hits historic low
Left arm fast bowler Arshdeep is playing the match against Proteas at his home ground. He was expected to impress the home fans with his bowling performance, but the left-arm pacer has failed to do so.
When this fast bowler came to bowl the 11th over, the situation became worse. He started the over by hitting a six against Quinton de Kock and then bowled seven wides in the over.
The over played as follows: 6 Wd Wd 0 Wd Wd Wd Wd 1 2 1 Wd 1. This was the joint-highest number of balls bowled in an over between full-member teams.
Most balls bowled in an over (full member countries):
13 balls – Arshdeep Singh vs South Africa, today
13 balls – Naveen-ul-Haq vs ZIM, Harare 2024
12 balls – Sisanda Magala vs PAK, Johannesburg 2021
Meanwhile, India head coach Gautam Gambhir got absolutely angry after seeing Arshdeep bowling wide and his reaction was captured on camera. Bowling coach Morne Morkel and batting coach Sitanshu Kotak were also surprised to see Arshdeep’s actions.
