Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of the India National Cricket Team, is facing criticism to relax Pace Spearhead Jasprit Bumrah in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 match.
Team India and Team Sri Lanka are closing horn with each other in the 18th match of Asia Cup 2025 at Dubai International Stadium on Friday, September 26.
Bumrah and Shivam Dubey are resting – Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav-led India Asia Cup is in a red-hot form in 2025 and despite not playing perfect cricket in any match is not yet losing a game.
After a major hat-trick of victory in group stage, he won a back-to-back matches in the Super Four Stage to make it in the final of the Asia Cup 2025.
His ongoing game in Dubai is a dead rubber as Sri Lanka has already been out of the competition. Meanwhile, India decided to experiment with the team for the Sri Lanka struggle and rested two big names.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav confirmed in the toss that he has decided to relax superstar Pesar Jasprit Bumrah and star all-rounder Shivam Dubey, replaced by Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana. He said:
“We have taken 2 changes. Bumrah and Shivam Dubey are resting. Arshdeep and Harshit Rana come in.”
Suryakumar Yadav said that they want to continue doing good things against Sri Lanka and improve their fielding. He said:
“” I think we just want to continue what we are doing. We both have three times and we have batted twice the first. We really wanted to bat today today. We are happy with it. Good environment, good game is moving, just walk with it. (On taking a catch) I think it is part of the game. This happens until then.
In particular, Bumrah has seen out of the rhythm in the Asia Cup 2025, and his best is yet to be seen. In two matches against Pakistan, he recorded 2/28 and 0/46 figures, while he recorded 2/18 and 1/19 figures against Bangladesh and UAE.
The Pakistan National Cricket Team is resting further from the mega final, not sitting well with fans, and he slammed the team management decision.

Gambhir will never learn, .. Bumrah no one needs a rhythm, not the rest, .. last time he relaxed him and he lost the touch in the next game

Why … Bumrah needed to rest … You are making this mistake repeatedly … You get rushed to him … It’s just about 4over … #INDVSLANKA #Asiacup2025 @BCCI

Bumrah played the entire IPL.
Why are you resting before the important final?
I think India is playing this game only for a formality, but they should continue the winning streak before going to the finals.– SMIT (@Smit_PVT) September 26, 2025
Bumrah ko Ferse Rest. Brother Ek Match was Meen Touch Meen. Why was it ruined? Relaxing coach is suicidal.

I still do not understand what is wrong with Bumrah and team management. Did he really need to rest? This is just a matter of 4 overs.
We are playing the finals in the next two days.
He was already resting against Oman, and in the next match, he won 45 and became a wicket -free …– (@shebas_10dulkar) September 26, 2025
