Former India captain Kris Srikkanth criticized head coach Gautam Gambhir and the entire Indian national cricket team management for the 2–1 loss in the ODI series against England despite winning the first match of the series.
Chris Srikkanth mentioned that after all the poor performances in India’s UK tour, the team management will be left to guard as they have to face lower-ranked teams like Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and West Indies in the near future.

The Indian cricket team finished the UK series without claiming any series as they dropped T20I series against Ireland and England before losing against England in the 3-match ODI competition.
On his YouTube channel Cheeky Cheeka, Chris Srikkanth said in a sharp manner that despite the disappointing results of the England match, Gautam Gambhir will be praised in future only because of the Champions Trophy and T20 World Cup.
The former India batsman said that if Gautam Gambhir gets credit for winning the trophy, he will have to take accountability for the results that went against the team.
Chris Srikkanth said, “Amidst so many defeats, India will quietly participate in the Champions Trophy and the T20 World Cup. Using this, Gautam Gambhir will be appreciated. Yet, in reality, Gambhir is accountable for these results. The team management as a whole has to be accountable. But in India, that will never happen, so these will be swept under the carpet.”

Reviewing India’s next few fixtures, Srikkanth revealed that the Men in Blue will next face Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and West Indies, who are not among the top cricket teams, and will probably win easily.
With a possible win over these three nations, embarrassing incidents in England would be swept under the carpet. Thus, Gautam Gambhir & Co. will be successful in saving their position, believes the former cricketer.
“Now they will beat Zimbabwe and then beat teams like West Indies and Sri Lanka. Time will fly by until the World Cup next year. And everyone will say that India is back in form. But in reality, these series should not even be considered,” Kris Srikkanth told PTI.
The former Indian captain also expressed disappointment over the team selection. At Lord’s, the Indian bowling unit endured a poor day on the field against England’s batting line-up, scoring 387 runs as India took the 3-match ODI series 2–1.

The fast bowling line-up of Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav and Gurnoor Brar got a reality check in London. Srikkanth has predicted that the team management will retain great bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Krunal Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja in the future.
“Still, everyone will forget this England tour once the Zimbabwe series starts in two days. They will keep picking their favorites and leave out many other deserving players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shami, Siraj, Krunal Pandya and Jadeja.”
