On Tuesday, August 19, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially announced the India National Cricket Team squad for the Asia Cup 2025.

Star Batter Suryakumar Yadav will continue as the captain of the India National Cricket Team for the Asia Cup 2025, and Shubman Gill is named as his deputy.

The Asia Cup will be played in the 2025 T20 format, and the fans will see the action of the book rapidly from 9 to 28 September. India is a formal host of the Asia Cup 2025, but due to political and logical reasons, the tournament will be held in the UAE.

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates, Oman and Hong Kong – A total of eight teams will participate in the tournament, and teams are divided into two groups, with a round -robin format being followed.

Group A includes India, Pakistan, UAE and Oman, while Group B consists of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Hong Kong.

Next to the Squad’s announcement, there was a lot of debate about the IPL, thanks to the presence of a large pool of talent in India, the players will make it in the T20 i squad.

Even though there was a set T20I team in India which had continuously won under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, many experts demanded a change in the squad, supporting the selection of players who were not in the setup for various reasons.

The biggest names to talk about the city were Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammad Sirj, fame Krishna, Mohammed Shami, Rinku Singh and some others.

However, the BCCI on Tuesday ended all speculation and debates with the announcement of the official squad.

Sris Iyer has been snatched away from the squad along with Mohammad Siraj. Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma have been selected as wicketkeeper-batsmen.

India’s Asia Cup winning history

Overall, India has won the eight Asia Cup titles, including 7 in the ODI format and 1 in the T20I format. He won his first title in 1984 by defeating Pakistan by 54 runs under the leadership of Sunil Gavaskar. Since then, he has continued his dominance and won the previous version of the Asia Cup in 2023 and also included Sri Lanka under the leadership of Rohit Sharma.
