The sixth edition of The Hundred is scheduled to begin on July 21, 2026, bringing together eight teams in another exciting season of England’s 100-ball competition. The tournament will consist of 32 league matches, followed by eliminators and a final, in which the champion will be crowned on August 16.
This year’s competition is the first season following investment by IPL franchise owners, with many teams undergoing rebranding. MI London, Sunrisers Leeds and Manchester Super Giants are among the new-look franchises that will compete for the title along with Southern Brave, London Spirit, Trent Rockets, Birmingham Phoenix and Welsh Fire.

How does The Hundred work?
Introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2021, The Hundred is a fast-paced format designed to finish a match in approximately two and a half hours.
Here are the key rules:
- There are 100 balls in each innings.
- The team scoring the most runs wins.
- The bowlers may bowl five or ten consecutive balls depending on the captain’s preference.
- A bowler can bowl a maximum of 20 balls (equivalent to four traditional overs).
- Teams change ends after every 10 balls rather than every over.
- Each innings consists of a 25-ball powerplay, during which only two fielders are allowed outside the 30-yard circle.
- Each bowling side gets a 90-second strategic timeout, during which the coach can enter the field to discuss strategy.
- A complete match usually lasts about 150 minutes.
